I am interested in working with people of all ages and in particular with seniors, as I'm one myself. Sea Kayaking: Spring, Summer, Fall Kayak birding in small, very stable, double kayaks going to specific "hot spots" for watching shorebirds, sea otters, marsh birds, and pelicans is one program. No more than six people will be on such trips, and I am happy to take only four. A full day for four Seniors is $75 per person; for younger people $95. A fifth person pays $50 and the sixth person is free! A group can share this discount, or the group's coordinator can claim it. For groups of up to ten people of any age group who want to use me as their bird and/or kayak guide I can negotiate with the major kayak rental companies to outfit you in double-seat boats, or single-seat boats provided you are already competent. In the double boats no previous experience is necessary. Workshops and Lectures: Birds in Great Literature Evening programs, a full day, or a full weekend workshop can be arranged. My specialties are Chaucer, Shakespeare, Dante, and Walt Whitman. I have taught adult extension courses on this subject for credit at Sierra Nevada College, the University of Nevada at Reno, College of Marin and U.C. Santa Cruz.
Evening Talks with Slide Shows
Special: Bird Watching by Kayak with a Camera I have four slide shows; Cross-Country Skiing California, Adventure Kayaking from the Russian River to Monterey, Bird Watching by Kayak with a Camera, and Walt Whitman's Wings. With this last show the slides are of my paintings of Whitman's birds and the text is from A Chronicle of American Sunlight, which is the subtitle of my book on Whitman. Fees for these events are negotiable, depending on the distance I have to travel. |
